Announcing Clayton Jude Iles

Clayton Jude Iles
Birthday: Wednesday, June 18
Time: 11:14 p.m.
Weight: 8 lbs.
Length: 19 inches

Jude is here! Shocking as it may seem since I'm not due for 3 more weeks! I went into labor on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. I didn't know what to expect because I was induced with Noah. I called my mom and she said, "I think you're in labor!". I wasn't having bad contractions, but they were coming very evenly, about every 5 minutes with increasing intensity. I called my doctor and he suggested I come into Maternal Observation. I called Clay at work and he came home. I was packing bags and flat-ironing my hair. I wanted to look good for Jude's big debut. We threw everything in the car, dropped Noah off at Jason and Melissa's house, and headed to the hospital. We got there around 6:15 and got into a room. My water broke soon after arriving and the nurses said, "You aren't going home. You're about to have a baby!". I was admitted to Labor and Delivery at 7:08 p.m. and received that wondeful Epidural at 7:50 p.m. I was dialated to a 3 at 8:45 p.m. and by 10:34 p.m., I was at a 9! Ten minutes later I was fully dialated and ready to push. I started pushing at 10:51 p.m. on every other contraction. I pushed with a total of 6 contractions and Jude was born at 11:14 p.m. My doctor barely made it into the room to deliver him!
Jude is absolutely perfect and healthy in every way. We are enjoying him so much. I will be posting more pictures in the days to come, as we are awfully busy enjoying both of our boys!

Happy Daddy's Day

We enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day today with Clay. Noah gave his daddy a sweet homemade card and I made a yummy breakfast of eggs, sausage, and biscuits. We started the day by going to church, which we were in the nursery for. Afterwards we grabbed a quick bite at Taco Bueno because Clay was going to play in the Father/Son softball game hosted by our church. However, not enough interest was generated for the afternoon of fun, so we opted to go home and take a rest. Tonight we did our weekly grocery shopping and just enjoyed being together before the hectic week begins.

By the way, isn't Noah's little voice so sweet?

No Progress

I went to the doctor on Tuesday and to our surprise (ha, ha) there was no progress towards Jude's arrival. We can only hope for next Tuesday's appointment to turn out differently!
I spent the week washing baby clothes and blankets and placing them in drawers. Now, we just need to pack our bags, load the carseat, and we're ready for a baby! I also painted the letters of the boys' names in light blue and tonight I'm going to paint shelves in dark blue to hang in their room. Clay says I'm nesting. Well, maybe that means Jude is on his way after all :)
Since this is "News About Noah" and I'm rambling about myself and Jude, let me give you an update on that wild man. Yesterday he managed to get into the super glue. Yes, super glue. He glued his hands and ate some of the contents. Don't worry. I called Poison Control and they suggested washing his hands with warm soapy water and giving him juice to drink. This is the 2nd time we've called because Noah has also "decorated" his room with Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Later in the afternoon yesterday he got into a bottle of lamp oil. Our entire house smells like a mixture of alcohol and cinnamon. I know you may think, "Where were you?", but this occurs in a matter of seconds while I do selfish things like cook supper and call to check on a friend who had a baby. I don't know what we're going to do with this kid who has apparently hit the "terrible 2's" a tad early.
On a positive note, Noah is saying a lot more words. He can repeat almost everything we say. He still isn't putting more than one word together at a time, but we're waiting for that day to come. As wild and crazy as he can be, he is such a joy. We really see some tenderness coming out in him. He enjoys praying before meals and says "Mamen" at the end. He rocks his stuffed animals and pretends to give them his sippy cup. He enjoys us reading to him before naps and bedtime. Every animal is still a dog, but we're working on that. All in all, I think he's ready to be the "Big Brother" in a few weeks!
(I'll update soon with some pictures and more tells of the Iles family :)

Our Last Day

Well, we're getting ready to bring Landon to my parents tomorrow. I've been washing his clothes and getting him packed up. Right now Clay, Landon, and Noah are swimming at the Seminary Pool and I'm just relaxing at home. When they return in a few minutes we are gonna grab some ice-cream at Cold Stone- yummy!
We'll probably go to bed early since we'll be waking around 4:30 to hit the road by 5:30 to meet my family in Marshall, TX. It will be good to see them one last time before they come up for Jude's birth. It's getting so close now! I go for my 36 week check-up on Tuesday and my doctor will begin checking me each visit. I'll send a post then and let everyone know what my progress is (if any). Until then...

Landon Part 2

Yesterday, we all went to Putt-Putt for a morning of fun. Clay, Landon, and I enjoyed friendly competition, while Noah did his own thing. He used the putter as a bat and the golf ball as a baseball. Can you tell what sport we love? Several times Clay or Landon had to go fetch Noah's ball on the other side of the fence. As a side note, I do have to say that I beat the boys in the 18 hole course. In their defense, we each got one hole-in-one. They should get some credit for that, right?
After our round of putt-putt, Landon hit the batting cages. He hit 2 rounds of balls and was of course quite impressive. Noah tried on the over sized helmet and waved the long bat side to side. It made Clay and I anxious for Wee Ball in a couple of years!

i'm sure he's getting ready to throw that "baseball"
knock it out the park lando!
Afterwards, we enjoyed a lunch at Black-Eyed Pea and then went home for a good nap. Clay and Landon spent the evening at a Rangers/Indians game, while Noah and I hung around the house. We have enjoyed our week with Landon. I'm going to miss him being around the house, especially for getting Noah in and out of the carseat and for general entertainment. No, I'll miss hanging out with my little bro. He's fun to be with!

Landon Part 1

Noah's fun Uncle Landon came home with us on Sunday. The two pals have had much fun swimming, playing at the park, and just hanging out around the house this week. Clay is taking the day off to spend with us tomorrow. We plan on going to play miniature golf, so I'll try to have a posting of that adventure for tomorrow :)

both boys "texting" on their cell phones (noah's is an old phone that is deactivated, of course :)
noah loves to drink bath water and pool water. no words of disgust have discouraged this gross behavior.

Bathing Buddies

Noah and Carson enjoyed taking a bath together during our stay in DeQuincy. Thanks to Clay they got somewhat clean and had a splashing good time! Aren't they the cutest?!

The Big 5-0

This past weekend we went home for my dad's (Pops') surprise 50th party! Somehow we kept it under wraps until time for him to make his big arrival. It was very difficult making up excuses of why we kept having to leave the house. I think we were "going to see KK and Jake's new house" five times or more over the weekend. (I finally did get to see the house on our way out of town on Sunday :) Lots of family and friends showed up to celebrate with the birthday boy. The evening was complete with yummy food (and cake!), a slideshow, and speeches.

Big Update

Things have been crazy around the Iles home. Lots of busyness! For the past 2 weeks, our little boy has been sleeping in his big boy bed! We are rejoicing because of the easy transition, but somewhat saddened that he's growing up and not our little baby anymore :( The good news is we will have the crib available for Jude in just a few weeks!
Now, if only we could get rid of the pacie and get potty trained. hmmm....
